Andy qualified from Birmingham University in 1990 and spent the following year completing vocational training on the Trent scheme based at the Queen’s medical centre in Nottingham. After spending some years as an associate he returned to Birmingham Dental School to work on the Oral Medicine clinics and the final year student clinics as a demonstrator.

He bought his own practice in Swanage in 1997 and owned it for 18 years before selling it in 2015 and starting work at Southampton General hospital in the oral surgery department. He now spends his time trying to balance three careers as he is also a general dentist at the Cheriton Dental Practice, specialising in taking teeth out, and an international lecturer with Denplan. His main areas of lecturing interest lie in the early detection of head and neck cancer.

Andy is married with two grown up children. He is often found riding one of his bikes.
